The 2008 Great Maypole Search

Our Rebel Alliance Playgroup is celebrating spring in May with a traditional Maypole. We really didn't want to buy a pole if we could help it; we want to celebrate spring as close to nature as possible. While we were at the ranch and snowshoeing through the aspen groves, we found many old, fallen aspens. Tasha and Chris found a beautiful, small, old aspen trunk on Saturday and we all went out to get it on Sunday.

The aspen had already fallen down, we just cut the length we needed.
We all took turns cutting and and trying to break it off.

RANCH WEEKEND!

We have met the coolest people and we brought them up to the ranch last weekend. Tasha (the mama), Chris (the daddy) and Eli (the boy) had given me the cookbook from Hell's Backbone Grill in Boulder, Utah (yes, there is a story here) and we decided to test out some recipes (you know me, I tried to test them all).

Chris made Grand Marnier French Toast, of his own invention.

"Marry Me Cornbread" from Hell's Backbone (cookbook is called With a Measaure of Grace) - Holy crap. I think I really could collect husbands with this recipe - bacon, onions, brown sugar, cream cheese and on and on....in the morning we also poured maple syrup on it. The
Eli LOVES to be outside. And pretends he is outside even when he is inside.

Emily's Recital

"Little" Emily was preparing for a recital and her teacher suggested that she practice in front of family. Almost the whole clan showed up for her piano and saxophone parlor entertainment.

Sam pooped in the potty! He knew he was going to the ice cream store for this big event. He had strawberry.

Ski Lunch

One thing that I loved about our ski day was that we brought our lunch and ate it outside. It was a gorgeous day and I had a hot chocolate and Keith had a beer and we listened to the Blues and watched the skiers. Very nice lunch.
