Ski Lunch

One thing that I loved about our ski day was that we brought our lunch and ate it outside. It was a gorgeous day and I had a hot chocolate and Keith had a beer and we listened to the Blues and watched the skiers. Very nice lunch.

Skiing!!

Keith and I had a great time re-learning how to ski. We closed Solitude down.
This is BE.
This is Keith on the "freestyle course."
Keith finishing a little jump. It looks much scarier when you're the one with skis.

Happy Valentin'es Day

We are very, very excited about the idea of crocuses, daffodils, tulips, snow drops, lilacs, peonies, apple blossoms. You have to love winter to love spring too. Spring will be so intoxicating that my head might pop off.

Birthday Cake

Strawberries, when it is 25 degrees, are a guilty pleasure. This kind of weather lends itself more to turnips and beets, which we now love, but we do miss some of Florida's local fruit. For my birthday, I decided to buy strawberries from California and dip them in chocolate. I took four out to dinner with Tasha and Chris (new and totally kick-ass friends, the likes of which we thought we would never find) and I put a candle in each one and we each had a birthday wish. Then we went to see Galactic. We had a little tequila. We danced a little. Wow. 36 started like a Tae Kwon Do kick! (Active, attractive and in demand, Mary, Mary!)

Our 60-year-old stove. The oven has to be lit by hand!

Just another perfect day in Big Cottonwood

Adult Snowshoeing

It sounds pretty exciting, doesn't it? Let me tell you, being without kids for an afternoon together is VERY exciting! Keith and I had great time in Big Cottonwood Canyon. It was G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S! I can't tell you how much I love it here.

Semi-Annual Haircut

I usually cut Keith's hair and this time Keith decided he wanted to cut Sam's hair. "Cutting" means using an electric razor. It turned out pretty cute and Sam won't need another haircut until he is 3.

A Saturday at Home

We have not had many weekends at home, but last Saturday we had friends for dinner which required a little time at home. The Barefoot Contessa says the best way to keep a clean house is to have lots of company over. We are finally starting to entertain again - we really missed it!

Gnome Insanity

Tomorrow morning Sam will wake up to find a home for his gnomes. I've been experimenting with needle felting because I am knitting and felting a purse and I wanted to do a needle felted design on it. So tonight after Sam went to bed, I made this little toadstool house. It took about three hours, but was a lot of fun!! Two gnomes will fit inside.

Keith thinks this is truly insane and wants me to create the Command and Conquer Army and then asked if I can create gnome tanks and infantry with panzerfast. I'm going more towards Smurfs, I think.
