Cooking with Charlie

Sam told me to put Charlie right there so he could take care of him and teach him how to cook. Sam is making a banana ketchup ice cream cake for dessert.

Utah Symphony

On Saturday we ended up going to the Utah Symphony's Family Concert instead of skiing. Sam was tired because it was during nap time, but he enjoyed it and said he wants to go back. Maybe he will like classical music better than I do.
We were then supposed to go skiing with the Hattons on Sunday, but we had a hard night with Charlie and were just too darn tired. Maybe next weekend.

Charlie's First Bath in the Tub

Sam is constantly trying to find ways to "take care of Charlie." He refers to him as "my baby" and loves to cuddle and kiss him. Occasionally he asks, "When are we going to give Charlie away?" But he seems to really like having him around.

Pajama Man

Wednesday of this week was "Pajama Day" at school. They had pancakes for their snack and even the co-oping parents and Ms. Stephanie dressed in their jammies. This is Sam on is way to school in our mud room.

A Heavy Day

Charlie had his mandatory Monday weigh-in today. He gained 10 ounces in the last week and we are very relieved. While the "nose issue" has become less of a concern with his breathing (although still very much of a concern) as he grows, when Charlie is congested, he cannot eat effectively or efficiently. His lack of weight gain was a concern - a concern to the point that formula supplementation was our next step if he did not gain enough weight this last week. He finally passed his birth weight and now weighs 7 pounds 10 ounces. He will be one month old on Thursday.

His nose was also suctioned today by the ENT and he highly recommended that we get the suctioning equipment at home so that we can get Charlie off the Afrin (rebound effect issues) and still reduce his congestion. He tried to pass the scope through his nose and he was still unable to do it. We are hoping that within a month that his head and nose will have grown enough that we can pass the 4mm scope.

Anyway, with Charlie clog-free Monday night for the first time in weeks, he slept in his own bed. Mostly this means that we were worrying a lot less.

Each day things feel a little more normal with fewer doctors and worries.

Sunday

On Sunday we went to a great breakfast and a little walk with the Hattons.
