BonnieiRaitt and Leo Kottke

This is before the concert started, but I love this venue at Red Butte Gardens. You just bring your picnic and blanket and enjoy the evening. This is also where we saw Garrison Keillor.

Sunday Morning at Red Butte Gardens

We met Eli and his parents at Red Butte on Sunday morning. We spend most of the time in the Fragrant Herb Garden and the Children's Garden. This is truly the most fabulous botanical garden I have every visited.

Keith makes his own bubble wand and bubble mix

What kid doesn't like bubbles?

Keith wants to make GIANT bubbles, so he made this prototype of a giant bubble wand.
Our neighbor Adele gave Sam a nice birthday present.

Sam's Booty

Aunt Pam and the Wards gave Sam his very own hummingbird feeder!

Tony and Ann Marie gave Sam this little tent, sleeping bag and little doll with a backpack! Very cute and he looooves the tent.
Tony won the contest for eating the most cake!
It was a great night and I only had to make the cakes!

Birthday Cake!

This is a chocolate roll with whipped cream. It looks like a giant Little Debbie Swiss Roll, doesn't it? It was really good.
This was 1942 Devil's Food Cake with milk chocolate ganache.
Sam gets to blow out candles again!!

Visiting school on his birthday

The morning of Sam's birthday, we walked up to his school - St. Sophia's Greek Orthodox School.
He was so excited that it was hard to leave.
Sam met a couple of little girls named Mary, Athena and Theodora. They were kindergartners and really took Sam in.

This is Sam's mode of transportation to school until it snows. Nona's brilliant birthday gift to Sam. We'll even use it when it snows if the sidewalks are plowed (a little optimistic).

Keith Enjoys Sam's Birthday Present

Konnie and Donita sent this calendar for Sam. Keith almost missed an appointment at work because he had to set the whole thing up and organize all the magnets. About 200 magnets I think. Sam was only allowed to watch.

Keith is very proud of his work.

Sam's Birthday Breakfast

Sam's birthday, August 21, started off early with French toast (one candle to grow on)

Sam's first backpack. "Loook, it's a backpack! To carry my water bottle when I hiiiiiike."
Sam's first calendar from Konnie and Donita in Sarasota (more pictures of this later).
