Checking Fairy Houses

In the fall we built fairy houses and made a map to of the yard with the houses marked. We just found the map again and ran around the yard to check on the houses.

Sam's Quiet Thinking Time

Sam has been reading The New How Things Work since Nona got him his first copy for his 3rd birthday. He still reads it every day and now we have two copies (Thanks, Aunt Jo!), so he reads it in the car too. I would say he probably goes through this book for about an hour every day. His questions, inventions, and ideas usually stem from this book. I have personally read it cover to cover at least 10 times since he turned three and the same for Keith. At bedtime, Sam gets three stories and one is always some invention from this book. It is the perfect book for a curious little kid. I have to say that I like to read this book for bedtime more than the sewing machine manual which was a bedtime story for a time.
Sometimes he isn't ready to go to sleep and we just let him read to himself. He has the book memorized so he really can read to himself.

Hike to Landscape Arch

This is a very short hike and in the summer it was easy, but snow made it a completely different trip!

We stopped to sound out all the letters.
